So I finally got to my photos of my trip to South Africa. These are a few taken in a small seaside village called Haga Haga on the east coast of South Africa. Much of my childhood was spent here with family and friends picking up shells, fishing, and enjoying the sea and nature. The memories of my time here as a child have been the most influential part of my creative work... and my life really. I was truly blessed to have experienced what I did.

This piece is really interesting and entertaining as well. It gave me something to think about. It obviously relates to what I do for a living but also how I relate to children and their creativity. Increasingly I am aware of how valuable it is to be able to be in touch with that wonder and curiosity that we had as children. Back from South Africa!

Just a quick post to reconnect and let everyone know that I'm back from my two month trip to South Africa. Still trying to adjust to the new time zone and the weather for that matter. I see some spring bulbs coming up. That's something to look forward to.
Have many photos and memories to sort through over the next few months. I will be posting them from time to time. I miss being in South Africa and look forward to reliving my trip through my photos. I took alot of photos of the ocean. Alot! Not sure what that was about but I sure enjoyed my swims, picking up shells, watching dolphins in the waves or just simply watching the waves.
It was wonderful to see my family again. Each time I go back the experience is richer. Special love to my family who may be reading this.

Hoodoos

Raph and I also visited and official protected hoodoos site in Drumheller. Hoodoos take millions of years to form and stand 5-7 metres high. Each hoodoo is a sandstone pillar resting on a thick base of shale that is capped by a large stone.

Roadtrip to Drumheller

Raphael envited me to Edmonton to go to the Western Canadian Music Awards and then for a roadtrip to Drumheller. Raph and his band, Rumba Calzada, were nominated for 2008 Outstanding World Recording of the Year. It was a great show and for Raph a great honour to be included with such talented artists. And yes, Canada has some amazing musical talent. It was so much fun and I'm grateful to Raph for including me.

Karla visits from Mexico

Here she is beaming with enthusiasm, that great smile and all that sweetness. I met Karla when she was about 2 years old. I would visit her grandparents in Mexico and she would stay over on weekends. Sometimes she would share her room with me and I remember when she was so little she would hold onto to you while you were sleeping and wrap her little arms and legs around you in a big hug all night. I remember when she fell asleep in my arms on the beach and I was so happy to just sit there with her. Lots of love to you Karla and wishes that all your hopes and dreams come true. xo
